What a great book! Highly recommended for bedtime story fun. Great for both girls and boys and a great learning tool.
I Think There's A Monster Under My Bed! is a charming story that will delight your children. It's about a little boy who keeps seeing monsters in his room after lights out and how his parents help him through the fear. The illustrations are absolutely delightful and the ending is a sweet surprise. Not only did I enjoy reading the book, but I was happy to learn that a portion of its profits benefit a research and advocacy nonprofit for novel and contemporary learning methodologies called the Energy and Sciences Education Initiative (ESEI). Very enjoyable children's book.
I won a copy of I Think There's a Monster Under My Bed! by Jennise Conley. I'm so glad I did- Funny my 3yr old was sitting with me when I was opening the mail & I forgot this book was coming- anyway I let her open the package and she was soooo excited ) (was cute) I read the book right away to her and we both loved it~ great story for parents to read to their young children. Awesome pictures inside the story and this book is a keeper. This is the second book that I have read to my niece from this author. She is a bit young to understand all of the words yet, but she loves when I read to her and she loves to look at the pictures.
This author is so talented and I have enjoyed reading her books for my niece. I like that she briefly explains child development in the beginning of the book so that the adults can use the books to their advantage. This book is so cute and creative. I think every kid thinks there are monsters under their bed or in their closet. This cute book makes for an easy way to broach the subject with children in a fun way. I really love the ending and think it's a great way to end this children's book. The repetition is fun and I know that my niece will continue to enjoy this book as she gets older.
This book is fabulous. I read it to my niece and she was completely enthralled with the pictures and was listening so intently. When I was done, "Again! Again!" I had to read it 3 times in a row just for her to be happy. In the front of there book there is a letter to parents along with some useful information about how Preschoolers are Innately predisposed to Language, Encouraging early reading skills through play, Rhyme and Repetition Paint a Vivid Picture, Baby Signs Unlock Communication Channels, and the most important section in my opinion Tips and Tricks to Encourage Precocious Readers. This information will help parents and relatives a lot but besides this great information, kids will love this book. It's so catchy and cute. I definitely recommend it!
Another homerun children's book from Conley.
"I Think There's a Monster Under My Bed" is the story of a young boy who believes that different monsters are calling the space under his bed home. After he calls out to his parents, they reassure him that all is well. Most children will identify with thinking there's a monster under their bed. Parents will identify with reassuring their little ones who have overactive imaginations. The humor at the end will make all who are listening to the story giggle.
As a children's librarian, this is a great read-aloud for a preschool story time. The illustrations are colorful and easy to understand. I love each monster that the main character imagines is under his bed - who hasn't thought about green monster with yellow eyes sneaking out from under your bed?
What I think parents will really like about this book is the repetition. While it might seem too much, children love when something they like is repeated. (How many times have you read the same book to your child?) Repetition is so helpful in engaging children in books and, most importantly, helping them to learn how to read. But don't take my word for it Conley has provided ample information for parents before the story about how important reading is to children, especially at those early, formative stages. Conley knows her stuff!
